How to Overcome Sadness:
Why Do We Hurt Ourselves Emotionally?
Why would you let anger destroy your relationships?
Why would you let bitterness grow inside you?
Why would you speak so harshly to yourself?
Sometimes, the deepest pain in our lives isn’t what others did to us…It’s what we allow to continue inside of us.
And the truth is: Many people are living full lives on the outside… but go to sleep with unrest, anxiety, and emotional pain on the inside.
We can’t always control what people say or do—but we do have control over what we say to ourselves.
Even Strong People Feel Broken
In the Bible, King David—one of the most powerful and faithful men—wrote:
“I am bowed down and brought very low… all day long I go about mourning.”
This is the same David who defeated Goliath. What does that tell us?
You can love God deeply and still feel sadness, guilt, or depression. Feeling emotions is normal—but being controlled by them is not.
The Danger of Letting Emotions Lead
The Bible says: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Your life is a reflection of what’s happening inside your heart.
Your relationships
Your decisions
Your habits
Your reactions
Everything flows from within.
And here’s the problem: “The heart is deceitful above all things…”
Your emotions can lie to you. They can tell you:
“You’re not good enough”
“You’ll never change”
“Just give up”
And if you believe them, they will control your life.
When the Holy Spirit Shows Up, Everything Changes
In the beginning, the earth was empty, dark, and without form…
But when the Spirit of God moved—Light appeared.
That same principle applies to your life.
No matter how dark it feels:When the Holy Spirit steps in, everything can change.
Your Next Step
You don’t overcome sadness, guilt, or shame by ignoring it…
You overcome it by bringing it to God.
Instead of sitting in your emotions—👉 Run to Him.
Pray this today:
“Holy Spirit, I need You.Rest on me.Transform my heart.”

Working on a vintage journal digitization project — halftone density varies page to page. The textbook approach is writing FFT scripts; this browser descreening tool just runs in the browser and handles batches. Not museum-grade color-managed but fine for search-indexed scans.
Try to do a daily mini crossword at breakfast to wake my brain up, and making my own 5x5 with clues pulled from the week's work emails has become a weird little ritual.
It is not NYT quality but it is in my own voice, which I oddly prefer.
Turned a photo of my classroom pet into a custom jigsaw puzzle for the end-of-year party. The SVG export went straight to our school's laser cutter. Ten minutes start to finish.
